16 September the International Day or Ozone day celebrated for the past 10 years for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, proclaimed by The United Nations General Assembly on 19 December 1994. In 1987, the Montreal Protocol was signed by many countries on that day that were apprehensive about the depletion of the Ozone Layer due to this date was chosen for the celebration of World Ozone Day.
The persons worldwide get opportunity to reflect on the progress that has been made with regards to the protection of the ozone layer on World ozone day. To protect this valuable shield that safeguards the earth and in the long-run, our lives, World ozone day serves as a reminder to decision-makers and the general public of the need.
Each year States are invited to devote the Day in accordance with the objectives of the Montreal Protocol and its amendments to promote, at the national level activities.
On 19 December 1994, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 16 September the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, commemorating the date, in 1987, on which the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed.
Of the art forms, ballet is the one that combines all of them into one. Music is danced to, art is seen in sets and costumes, literature is used to set the story, and the most obvious: dance. It is with dance that an observer can become most stimulated, most intrigued and most amazed. In addition, people find that they may relate to at least one of the characters, which amazes them all the more because after all, they are only puppets.
This ballet has been enchanting audiences since 1911, and it is no wonder. But perhaps the most dynamic performance was the first, for it is through the rehearsals, composing and piecing together of Petrushka that a masterpiece was created, and has lived on since. Changes have been made, and the original score was even revised in 1947; but the story of Petrushka, combined with the elements of music, dance and art, have created a legend for the Ballets Russes. With the talents of Diaghilev, Stravinsky, Benois, and Fokine, all the elements of this ballet can be seen as separate art forms, yet they are all very connected.
